Always Aggressive Podcast | Season 1, Episode 31
This week’s Always Aggressive Podcast put the finishing touches on the 2019-20 Purdue Wrestling season as head coach Tony Ersland and hosts Cory Palm and Tanner Lipsett broke down the Boilermakers’ postseason awards both on-and-off the mat.
The Boilermakers killed it in the classroom this season, earning NWCA Scholar All-America team honors for the second straight season, grabbing three individual NWCA academic awards and tying the program record with 13 Academic All-Big Ten selections. The team had a 3.29 grade point average (GPA) during the spring semester, and pushed the squad’s cumulative GPA over a 3.0. Dylan Lydy put a cherry on top of the academic recognition Wednesday, receiving Purdue’s Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship honor.
Unable to hold the team’s 2019-20 postseason banquet, the Boilermakers announced their team award for the season via social media. Ersland handed out eight honors for the season, recognizing Lydy, fellow senior Christian Brunner, junior Devin Schroder, sophomore Parker Filius and freshmen Thomas Penola and Kendall Coleman.
